Philadelphia Icons

Change begins when people raise their voices.

Philadelphia Activists celebrates the individuals and movements that have advanced justice, equity, and opportunity throughout our city's history. Through powerful choral works and inspiring stories, this program honors those who transformed conviction into action and reminds us that progress is built through collective effort.

The music explores themes of courage, advocacy, hope, and perseverance, highlighting the ongoing pursuit of a more just and inclusive society. Audiences will experience music that not only commemorates historic achievements but also invites reflection on the challenges and opportunities of our own time.

For nearly eight decades, Singing City has used music to bring people together across differences and inspire meaningful civic engagement. Philadelphia Activists stands as a powerful expression of that legacy, demonstrating how the arts can illuminate the past, strengthen communities, and inspire action for the future.
