Day 1 (Thu Jul 2) Belo Horizonte - The capital of Minas Gerais state, located in the south-eastern region of Brazil. It is the third largest metropolitan area in the country. Belo Horizonte has plenty of significant cultural landmarks, many of them situated in the Pampulha district, where there are very wonderful examples of Brazilian contemporary architecture

Day 2 (Fri Jul 3) Belo Horizonte/Vila Rica do Ouro Preto - Vila Rica do Ouro Preto is a city in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, a former colonial mining town located in the Serra do Espinhaço mountains and designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO because of its outstanding Baroque architecture. Evening concert in the Igreja São Francisco de Assis.

Day 3 (Sat Jul 4) Juiz de Fora - The cultural life of Juiz de Fora is marked by great eclecticism, which can be seen in its architecture. Art Nouveau buildings dating from the first decade of the 20th century are intermingled with those in Art Déco style from the mid-20th century, as well as the architectural art works by Niemeyer.

Day 4 (Sun Jul 5) Juiz de Fora - Evening concert in the Igreja Sao Francisco

Day 5 (Mon Jul 6) Petropolis - A lovely mountain retreat, Petrópolis retains its heritage with a decidedly European flavor. The city is the home of the heir to the throne, Princess Isabel’s grandson, Dom Pedro de Orleans e Braganca.

Day 6 (Tue Jul 7) Petropolis - Guided sightseeing tour of Petropolis, including entrance to the Museu Imperial. Evening concert in the Igreja Rosario.

Day 7 (Wed Jul 8) Rio de Janeiro - The spectacular beauty of Rio is compelling. This glamorous metropolis is kissed by the sun, scalloped by gorgeous wide beaches, and dotted with dramatic mountains. Yet is history marked it not as a playground but as an important port for the shipment of gold, gemstones, and coffee, and as a seat of colonial power.

Day 8 (Thu Jul 9) Rio de Janeiro - Guided sightseeing tour of Rio, including the famous cable car ride up Sugarloaf. Evening concert in the Presbyterian Cathedral

Day 9 (Fri Jul 10) Rio de Janeiro - Morning excursion to Corcovado to see the Statue of Christ the Redeemer. Afternoon workshop with Brazilian percussion group.

Day 10 (Sat Jul 11) Depart for Philadelphia
